Videos: Madonna's 'Girl' and Evanescence 'Sober' Up

Madonna's "What It Feels Like For a Girl" video was banned because MTV thought there was too much violence in it, but it's only a woman living a fanasty, Jeez!

Here is the new single, "Call Me When You're Sober" from the group's upcoming new album The Open Door. I love this song. Who is the cute guy in the video?

Labels:

Airwave: Mayer turns into a 'Vulture'

Singer John Mayer returns with a new song called, "Vultures" from his CD Continuum (Sony Records) which will be released Sept. 12 and the result he continues with a success.

The lyrics are smooth:

Some of us, We're hardly ever here
The rest of us, we're born to disappear
How do I stop myself from
Being just a number
How do I hold my head
To keep from going under

Down to the wire
I wanted water but
I'll walk through the fire
If this is what it takes
To take me even higher
Then I'll come through
Like I do
When the world keeps
Testing me, testing me, testing me

How did they find me here
What do they want from me
All of these vultures hanging
Right outside my door
I hear them whisperin
They're tryin to ride it out
They've never gone this long
Without a kill before

Down to the wire
I wanted water but
I'll walk through the fire
If this is what it takes
To take me even higher
Then I'll come through
Like I do
When the world keeps
Testing me, testing me, testing me

He ends up producing the CD almost by himself but this cut is a good as those other songs he has written. No wonder everyone goes crazy for him.

Airwave: Stefy gives the color 'Orange' a try

They are the band from Orange Country, actually, think of them as the No Doubt of today as lead singer Stefy Rae has that look of Gwen Stefanie and the voice and stage presence of Blondie's Debbie Harry.

With its debut CD The Orange Album (Wind-Up Records) Stefy, other members include Sean Meyers (guitar), Jason Gaviati (keys), and Andreas Brobjer (drums) turns out not be that bad and like the band The Artic Monkeys they too advertised on MySpace.com.

MySpace

The band's first single "Chelsea" is good:

I can see there's something in your eyes
You just took a fall from paradise
Saw the lipstick on your neck
Maybe you should just confess

Oh oh oh oh oh

I don't wanna lose my head today
But I know there's something in the way
Maybe I made a big mistake last night
when I left you alone with Chelsea

Chelsea's the kind of girl that's cold as ice
Beautiful with nails filed sharp as knives
She called me while you were kissing
so I could hear what I was missing

Oh oh oh oh oh

I don't wanna lose my head today
But I know there's something in the way
Maybe I made a big mistake last night
when I left you alone with Chelsea

When I left you alone with Chelsea

Airwave: Simpson goes 'Public' with laundry

Okay so Jessica Simpson is releasing her new album A Public Affair (Sony Records) and there are two words to describe her: BRITNEY SPEARS!

Sorry but this album is not all that great and Simpson has sunk to the low of even trying to be Madonna with the lead single, "A Public Affair":

There go the street lights - the night's officially on,
I got the green light - to do what ever we want,
Gonna stand - outside - the box - and put the rules on hold,

Tonight
Carte blanche, first class for the evening
Ready, set, go

All the girls stepping out for a public affair
(All night, that's right cos the party don't stop)
All the cameras come out for a public affair
(Who cares, let's rock, cos the party don't stop)

Hey Baby, I see you looking my way here baby
Are you gonna keep looking - or get up?
And talk to me
Here's an opportunity that you don't wanna miss tonight

Tonight - got the plans first class for the evening

Ready. Set. Go.

All the girls stepping out for a public affair
(All night, that's right cos the party don't stop)
All the cameras come out for a public affair
(Who cares, let's rock, cos the party don't stop)

Ohh Ohh

Do what you wanna do, tonight the world does not exist
No, no, no
Move how you wanna move, all my girls work it out - like this

Give me room to shake, shake, shake, shake

The first and opening guitar riffs I swore that it was Madonna but it turned out to be Simpson instead and as in reading the lyrics I swear she is awful at it:

I do think that the 13 tracks on here could have been better and I have to say this BUT stop copying the Material Girl!

That goes for Britney Spears too!

Overall: album, horrible. Wanting to be Madonna not even close.

MTV Video Music Awards 2006; Madonna's 'Issac' song

Here is the song that caused controversy before the public had a chance to listen to it. "Issac" was comdemned by the Church for its lyrics and reference to a Jewish mytic of the 16th century.

Here is Madonna's friend Yitzhak Sinwani and then she appears to sing. The song is the Eastern version of her 1998 hit, "Frozen" with the lyric Mmm,Mmm,Mmm.

I totally think it's fabulous of course and Madonna couldn't look more beautiful.

Enjoy.

This weekend the MTV Video Music Awards will air on MTV and of course I could not forget the performance from three years ago featuring Madonna, Britney Spears and Christina Aguerlia.

The show was in tribute to Madonna from her debut 20 years ago in a white bride grow and singing her hit song, "Like A Virgin" and Spears and Aguerlia decked out in bride gowns and Madonna in a grown suit sung together.

Who knew that a simple kiss would cause choas with news organization and make "The Kiss" front page news and as Madonna told Oprah Winfrey, "The (news) probably had nothing better to do."

As for the kiss with Spears and Aguerlia, she commented that it was not a statement of lesbianism, "but if (Spears) looks like she was aggressive it was a surprise to me."

Let see what happens this year.

Airwave: Kimball takes what 'The Day Comes'

Texas-born Cheyenne Kimball debut CD The Day Has Come (Epic/Daylight Records) is very similar to that of Arizona-born Michelle Branch and like Branch, Kimball plays the acoustic guitar and in addition, the vocal range of Sheryl Crow.

Yes, Sheryl Crow, and with her currently appearing in the Candies shoes commerical Kimball is bound for stardom.

The album showcases a woman who from a young age of eight who has the ability to write songs and sing them it's no wonder I thought of the Branch similaries.

The key track it listen to is the title track:

I've been down inside waiting around
It really makes you tired letting another year passing by us by
Time goes slow and I don't know why, don't know why
So weak in my head, you hold me back, I wanna fly instead
Don't feel like I'm twelve instead baby your wrong but I don't care why

Outside a world full of strangers
Some I'd really like to know
I wanna stay
But the sign says go

[Chorus:]
I know the day has come,
I have just begun
No your never ever ever gonna see me try
Your never gonna see me doin anything but what I like

I know the day has come
We have just begun
No your never ever ever gonna see me lie
Your never gonna see me doin anything but what I like

I won't feel the light, sun all a rising, in the nick of time
I'm not sure when I will love
I'm all alone and I don?t why,

I wanna raise my voice
I wanna meet the good and bad boys
I want them sweet cuz baby that's my choice
Maybe im wrong but I don't care why

Outside a world full of answers,
Some of them I'd really like to know
I wanna stay
But the sign says go

You can read the rest of the lyrics on her official website and hear why she is good and so is the song.

Quote: I watch the late shows in America and there will be a girl on there I'd rather be with

British singer Robbie Williams is afraid he will remain single forever, because no girl can ever live up to his ideal woman - Madonna.
The Feel singer admits he is jealous of the Material girl's film-maker husband Guy Ritchie. He says, 'I've been in bed with somebody that I'm having a very romantic mini-break with, a couple of weeks relationship with, and then I watch the late shows in America and there will be a girl on there I'd rather be with. Madonna is the ultimate in our day and age of the grass being greenest.

Guy Ritchie is a lucky man. I do happen to fancy Madonna. She rehearses her a** off. Goes to the gym every day. She does all that stuff to get it spot-on and then she delivers. I'm in awe of her drive.'

Robbie, you are not the only one.

Videos: Madonna reaches her 'Star' and takes the 'Isla'

The song is called "La Isla Bonita" but the 'bonita' here is Madonna and she still knows how to sing and dance.

God, just watch her move and you will see why okay I know, I am totally insane for loving a woman like this but, can Britney Spears say that fans still love her after 23 years, and in addition, having someone like singer Robbie Williams say that he is jealous of Madonna's husband Guy Ritchie for marrying her? He actually fantasizes about her and I...well, I'll let you decide.

Here's Madonna laying out the floor like James Brown and with a white cape that says "Dancing Queen" in the back.

Once she begins singing "Lucky Star" with the in addition of elements from "Hung Up" the crowd and (when I went) goes mental and Donna DeLory looks hot....because I totally love this song, and Madonna without a doubt. The concert is reaches toward its end. It ended up being a two hour concert.

Love from Madonna No. 1 fan

Cerritos College instructor tuned up in return to classes

During her sabbatical last year music instructor, Dr. Christine Lopez, had the opportunity to do research and attend piano classes at Cal State Fullerton and Cal State Long Beach, where she will have the opportunity to promote Cerritos College's Music Certificate Program.

She said that during her 15-year tenure at Cerritos it was the first time she had taken the year off, and do research for, more specifically, piano pedagogy, which made her a "student again."

What piano pedagogy sets out to do is to create knowledge, activities and instructional skill for teaching piano to students, according to Lopez.

Before coming to Cerritos College Lopez taught at a university in Arizona.

She added that the reason why she didn't take a year off before was that, "there was young faculty (here in the music department), and that I wasn't comfortable or ready to leave."

However, once the faculty and the department were comfortable and ready without her, she came to the decision of leaving.

"Both Cal State Long Beach and Cal State Fullerton have excellent music programs," she said, "but what I gained was background information, resources, and materials (to share at Cerritos)."

Lopez said that she had the opportunity to take classes with music instructor Dr. Martha Baker Jordan who teaches at Cal State Fullerton, and music instructor Sam Shou from Cal State Long Beach.

What she has noticed with students who have taken piano classes with her is that those who have not taken a piano class before are able to learn concepts of melody, rhythm and harmony.

Students feel that Lopez's experience will be beneficial in the classroom.

"She is very professional," Jennifer Franco, music major, said.

"And she never, ever has a negative thing to say about anyone," Franco added.

Franco has been taking classes with Lopez for six years and she characterized Lopez as a "fireball because she strives for students to be better."

Esther Anaya, music major, said that although she has taken only one semester with Lopez that any student who decides to take a class with her as the instructor will have an "appreciation for music."

Cirilo Reyes, music major, said that not only will students have a better appreciation for music, but also that Lopez as an instructor will seek out the needs of those students who want to learn about music in general.

All agree that during their time as students of Lopez that each one of them has been influenced by her for wanting to know more about music and for Lopez, that is one of the things she hopes her students gain.

"I want students not only to be involved with learning about music, but also have a good experience," Lopez explained.

Airwave: Evanescence 'Sober' Up

The Open Door (Wind-up Records), scheduled for release October 3. The album from the two-time Grammy-winning band is defined by Amy Lee's beautiful melodies, compelling lyrics, poignant piano and stunning vocals, fused with Terry Balsamo's urgent, yet intricate guitar, to form a seamless, ethereal mixture that perfectly channels the band's hard rock and classical sensibilities. The contributions of members John LeCompt (guitar) and Rocky Gray (drums) are also evident.

"Making this record has been really intense," explains Lee. "Terry suffered a stroke last October and is still recovering, we got a new manager [Andy Lurie], and I've come out of a difficult breakup. But everything we've been through together has benefited this album."

And you can hear it in Lee's voice you think that she was writing about someone in your life (or perhaps hers?) but the song as the backing of a woman who is good at what she does.

Written late last year, The Open Door was recorded at The Record Plant in Los Angeles and mixed at Ocean Way Studios in March 2006. Marking the return of long-time friend and producer Dave Fortman, the album's musical elements include a classically-infused choir and strings recorded in an old chapel on several tracks, giving further color to songs of introspection, longing, doubt, self-respect and, ultimately, empowerment. The album opens with "Sweet Sacrifice," a post-relationship catharsis that head-dives from an otherworldly intro into a hard-driving thrash of hard rock guitars and soaring rock vocals. Its first single, the mid-tempo "Call Me When You're Sober," reinforces the moving-away-from-dysfunction theme.

The lyrics are good because it blends Lee's vocals:

Don't cry to me.
If you loved me,
You would be here with me.
You want me,
Come find me.
Make up your mind.

Should I let you fall?
Lose it all?
So maybe you can remember yourself.
Can't keep believing,
We're only deceiving ourselves .
And I'm sick of the lie,
And you're too late.

Don't cry to me.
If you loved me,
You would be here with me.
You want me,
Come find me.
Make up your mind.

Couldn't take the blame.
Sick with shame.
Must be exhausting to lose your own game.
Selfishly hated,
No wonder you're jaded.
You can't play the victim this time,
And you're too late.

Don't cry to me.
If you loved me,
You would be here with me.
You want me,
Come find me.
Make up your mind.

You never call me when you're sober.
You only want it cause it's over,
It's over.

How could I have burned paradise?
How could I - you were never mine.

So don't cry to me.
If you loved me,
You would be here with me.
Don't lie to me,
Just get your things.
I've made up your mind.

Thumbs up from this woman, and in a sense I thought that tracks from the album Fallen, fell short. However, from what I hear Lee bounces back nicely.

Overall: Love the track, and video too.

Airwave: Dangerous Muse face 'Rejection'

Dangerous Muse latest single, "Rejection" from their CD The Rejection (Warner Bros./Cordless Recording Records) album is a good song but the remix is better because it has that underground club sound and to that I say, hell yeah!

The Electro-Clash scene in New York City was undoubtedly one of the most creatively glamorous, deliciously lascivious and culturally influential pop music movements in recent years, but like most dance music, while ground breaking in its production, it may have lacked a certain emphasis on the art of songwriting.

Vocalist Mike Furey, a regular at all of the hottest downtown dance parties, wanted to use that dark, lusty, trashy dance sound he’d absorbed there to write the more personal songs that were gestating in his sub-conscious. Programmer/keyboardist Tom Napack, new to the scene, was looking for a vocalist and songwriting partner. They got together and immediately knew they had something. Combining the gloomy sexiness of the scene with a keen sense of song craft and pop drama, Dangerous Muse’s sound is as comfortable on the dance floor as it is the morning after.

New York performances at MisShapes, Scenic, Happy Valley and Crash Mansion began to spread the success of their first single “The Rejection” and Dangerous Muse was off and running. Soon they had Mr. Stein’s attention and found themselves working on their first commercial release with Ted Ottaviano (Book of Love).

In November 2005, Dangerous Muse released their first EP with Cordless Recordings, the newest addition to the Warner Music Group of labels. The day the EP was available, "The Rejection" soared to number 2 on iTunes’ top-selling dance charts and stayed at the top of the charts for weeks.

Dangerous Muse are currently working on writing and producing their next EP, to be available this Spring. They also intend to release a limited-edition picture-disc 10”, featuring an Eric Kupper remix of “The Rejection” and some other as-yet-to-be-announced mixes.

Lyrics: Mike Furey
Music: Mike Furey, Tom Napack
Produced by: Ted Ottaviano

At two am, she jumped on me,
said for five months she has loved ...
"Okay, it's your turn. Say the same."
I'd like to like you like you like me
but I can't please understand.
I'm not a jerk -- but I am.

She wept and wiped her face with one hand
said that we can't be friends.
"How could you not want me. I'm hot.
Just tell me. It's okay."

Stop trying. I don't want you.
You don't want to stop trying.
You want me, well --
I want to dance.

Stop trying. You don't want to.
I don't want you. Stop trying.
You want me, but --
I want to dance.

Days do pass, still wants to talk,
says for five months, she has loved ...
Okay, you know I'm not the same.
I'd like to like you like you like me,
but I can't please understand.
I'm not a jerk -- but I am.

She weeps and wipes her face with more tears,
this time, with her other hand.
"How could you kiss me there then just go,
leave me a sample in a song."

Stop trying--trying--trying.
I don't want you. You don't want to stop trying.
You want me, well --
I want to dance.

Stop trying. You don't want to.
I don't want you. Stop trying.
You want me, but --
I want to dance.

Stop crying, I don't want you.
You don't want to stop crying.
You want me, well --
I want to dance.

Stop crying, I don't want you.
You don't want to stop crying.
You want me, but --
I want to dance.

So just dance.

Put on your boots and walk out the door.
Forget the face that you watched before.
(Don't love me.)
It's not worth the time or worth the tears.
Shut your mouth. Be a dear.
(I don't want you.)

Put on your boots and walk out the door.
Forget the face that you watched before.
(Don't love me.)
It's not worth the time or worth the tears.
Shut your mouth. Be a dear.
(I don't want you.)

Arms up.
Just dance.
Arms out.
Just dance.

Arms up. Just dance.
Arms out. Just dance.
Arms up. Just dance.
Arms out. Just dance.

Just dance.

I won't say that I love you.
I can't say that I love you.

At two am, she jumped on me,
said for five months she has loved ...
"Okay, it's your turn. Say the same."
I'd like to like you like you like me,
but I can't please understand.
I'm not a jerk -- but I am.

So just stop.

Airwave: Malo's feeling as the 'Lonely' one in album

As the frontman for the Mavericks and a member of Los Super Seven, Raul Malo has applied his Orbison-like delivery to an eclectic array of material.

On this, his latest solo effort You're Only Lonely (Sanctuary Records), the warbler enlists veteran producer Peter Asher to focus on romantic balladry, as string-laden arrangements surround Malo's tremulous voice on the opening title track (a '70s hit for songwriter J.D. Souther) and the soaring "Feels Like Home" (reprised as the closer in a duet with Martina McBride).

The song selection highlights Malo's vocal range, as he finds the bittersweet essence in a slowed-down rendition of the Everly Brothers' "So Sad," a dramatic reading of the Bee Gees' "Run to Me,":

If ever you got rain in your heart,
someone has hurt you, and torn you apart,
am I unwise to open up your eyes to love me?

And let it be like they said it would be -
me loving you girl, and you loving me.
Am I unwise to open up your eyes to love me?

Run to me whenever you're lonely. (to love me)
Run to me if you need a shoulder
Now and then, you need someone older,
so darling, you run to me.

And when you're out in the cold,
no one beside you, and no one to hold,
am I unwise to open up your eyes to love me?

And when you've got nothing to lose,
nothing to pay for, nothing to choose,
am I unwise to open up your eyes to love me

Run to me whenever you're lonely. (to love me)
Run to me if you need a shoulder
Now and then you need someone older,
so darling, you run to me

A lilting take on Ron Sexsmith's "Secret Heart." He even tackles Etta James's signature tune, "At Last," its jazzy, smoky sophistication punctuated by a trumpet solo:
Pushover
Etta James

So you told all the boys that you were gonna take me out

Ya even ya even had the nerve to make a bet a yes you did
That I, I would give in all of my love you would win
But you haven't, you haven't won it yet
You took me for a pushover
Oh you thought I was a push over
Wo I'm not a push over
You thought my love was easy to get

All of the girls think you're fine
They even call ya Romeo
Ya got 'em, yeah you got 'em runnin' to and fro
Yes ya have
But I don't want a one night thrill
I want a love that's for real
And I can tell by your line, your's is not the lasting kind

You took me for a push over
Oh you thought I was a push over
Whoa I'm not a push over
You thought that you could change my mind
your temptin' lips (m m hm) your way hair (oh yeah)
your pretty eyes with that (ahhhhhhh) come hither stare
It makes me weak and I, I start to bend
and then I stop and think again
no (no), no (no), no don't let yourself go

I hate to spoil your reputation
I want true love not an imitation
And I'm hip to every word in your conversation

Who took me for a -- push over
Whoa I'm not a -- push over
Whoa you thought I was a -- push over
Whoa you can't (push me over)
Nobody is gonna (push me over)
Oh you're not man enough to (push me over)
(fade) Everybody thought you was gonna (push me over)

From: "sassy11749"

The cover of Willie Nelson's "Angel Flying Too Close to the Ground" provides the album's main link to country, but even here the bedrock organ and soul choir sound closer to the church than the roadhouse. The stellar selection provides a superb showcase for Malo's shimmering voice.

As noted by the lyrics to the song:

If you had not have fallen
Then I would not have found you
Angel flying too close to the ground
And I patched up your broken wing

And hung around a while
Tried to keep your spirits up
While you were feelin' down
I knew someday that you would fly away
For love's the greatest healer to be found
So leave me if you need to

I will still remember
Angel flying too close to the ground
Fly on, fly on past the speed of sound
I'd rather see you up
Than see you down
Leave me if you need to
I will still remember
Angel flying too close to the ground

Overall: Malo's voice and music is great so, is this album.

Airwave: Keith 'Crash(s) Here Tonight'

Toby Keith's latest single, "Crash Here Tonight" off his CD White Trash With Money (Show Dog Nashville Records) is another one of those that make him good.

Never mind that the song is short, but remember that this song strives to get your heart; he's in love again and you notice that with the lyrics:

I almost said I love you
Could I really be that kind of guy
See one candle burning in your eye
And watch my heart fill up with butterflies
I almost said I need you

Girl I shouldn't go there anymore
Act like I never been in love before
You probably think it's my first time
Is this what love's all about
Am I getting in too deep
Wouldn't want to freak you out
Make a promise I can't keep

So close your eyes and hum along
And I'll sing you one more love song
If everything is still alright
Why don't you just crash here tonight

Close your eyes and hum along
And I'll sing you one more love song
If everything is still alright
Why don't you just crash here tonight

Girl if everything is still alright
Why don't you just crash here tonight

Overall: good vocal performance, not sure about the rest of the album from which this song came off of.

Airwave: Gill's sings his 'Reason Why' as he returns

Vince Gill returns with a new song as well as a new album. The song is, "The Reason Why" off the upcoming CD These Days (MCA Nashville Records) to released on Oct. 17 and the result is a song that is back to where he became a superstar.

The lyrics tell you why the song is great:

1st Verse

Why do I choose the things I choose
Why do I always find some lame excuse
And why do I not realize what I could do
Oh, I wish I knew the reason why

2nd Verse

Why do you get that sad look on your face
And why do you pull away from my embrace
And why do you see all my faults and my mistakes
Oh, I wish you knew the reason why

Bridge

Why do we treat each other like we do
It's like we never even tried
Why can't we get back to the love we knew
Oh why oh baby why

3rd Verse

Why do we have to play the same old games
And why do we run away from who's to blame
And can't we see to lose this love would be a shame
Oh, I wish we knew the reason why
Oh, I wish we knew the reason why

In an unmatched outpouring of virtuosity and energy, Vince Gill has created These Days, a 4-CD set of 43 new and original songs to be released Oct. 17. The collection features the new single "The Reason Why" and is an artistic tour de force that displays Gill’s mastery of lyrics and musical styles, ranging from traditional country and bluegrass to jazz and rock.

“I started looking at all these songs I had,” the amiable superstar explains, “and going, ‘Shoot, I want to record that song, and I want to record that song.’ I just kept checking with the other musicians to see if they were available. I had no deadlines, no rules or anything like that. So I just kept trying songs.”

To accompany him on this ambitious undertaking, Gill turned both to artists he knew and had worked with before and to those whose music he admired at a distance.

“I never try to fill up my records with famous people,” Gill says. “I try to fill them up with the most talented people I can find on the face of the earth.” By the time the project was completed, that group included Sheryl Crow, Bonnie Raitt, Diana Krall, Rodney Crowell, Phil Everly, the Del McCoury Band, Emmylou Harris, John Anderson, Lee Ann Womack, Jenny Gill, Amy Grant, LeAnn Rimes, Gretchen Wilson, Guy Clark, Trisha Yearwood, Bekka Bramlett, Michael McDonald, steel-guitar master Buddy Emmons and many other musical standouts.

Initially, Gill planned to pare down the songs he’d recorded to a single album. Then, in one of the studios he used, he spotted some Beatles memorabilia and recalled that the Fab Four had routinely released multiple albums within the same year.

Gill took the idea to Luke Lewis, Universal Music Group Nashville Co-Chairman, who totally supported his notion of multiple releases. In fact, Lewis came up with an even more radical strategy: he told Vince to go and record more songs that explore his passion for acoustic sounds and release a 4-CD set. And that’s exactly what happened.

Gill co-produced These Days with famed keyboardist John Hobbs and sound engineering whiz Justin Niebank. The albums first single “The Reason Why” is now playing on radio.

It worked.

Airwave: Duff become a 'Material Girl'

Hilary Duff has turned into a 'material girl' as she takes on the Madonna hit, "Material Girl" from the movie soundtrack, Material Girls (Maverick Records) out on Friday starring her and her sister Haylie, and Oscar-winner Anjelica Huston and I was kinda of surprised that they would consider doing this song, but I still like the orginial.

At least they both tried, but even Madonna does a better job at singing the song and although Hilary Duff does try to give it a more 21st century sound it could have been better.

In spite of that I still think the song is one of Madonna's best:

Some boys kiss me, some boys hug me
I think they're O.K.
If they don't give me proper credit
I just walk away

They can beg and they can plead
But they can't see the light, that's right
'Cause the boy with the cold hard cash
Is always Mister Right, 'cause we are

[Chorus:]

Living in a material world
And I am a material girl
You know that we are living in a material world
And I am a material girl

Some boys romance, some boys slow dance
That's all right with me
If they can't raise my interest then I
Have to let them be

Some boys try and some boys lie but
I don't let them play
Only boys who save their pennies
Make my rainy day, 'cause they are

[chorus]

Living in a material world (material)
Living in a material world
[repeat]

Boys may come and boys may go
And that's all right you see
Experience has made me rich
And now they're after me, 'cause everybody's

[chorus]

A material, a material, a material, a material world

Living in a material world (material)
Living in a material world
[repeat and fade]

Quote: God would not mind my stunt because God was not the only one who was crucified

Once again I like to say happy birthday to Madonna. Today she turns 48-years old and she makes all the women jealous because she STILL looks hot, and as for the mock crucifixation during the 'Confessions' tour the Roman Catholic Church should get over it.

Seriously, people the Roman Cathloic Church has no right to violate the First Amendment and Madonna's right to freedom of artistic expression. But anyhow happy birthday Madonna and I hope that the next 48 years will be as exciting as the first 48 have been.
Love from your biggest and No. 1 fan

Airwave: Atkins Goes 'Through Hell' in song

Singer Rodney Akins latest single, "If You're Going Through Hell" from the album If You're Going Through Hell (Curb Records) is a good song and I can't believe that I missed this man for all the talent he has.

If you listen closely he is one of those that will have you saying, "What a talent!" like I said when I heard this song.

The lyrics to the song are that good:

Well you know those times when you feel like
There's a sign there on your back
That says I don't mind if you kick me, seems like everybody has
Things go from bad to worse
You think it can't get worse than that
And then they do

You step off the straight and narrow
And you don't know where you are
Used the needle of your compass, to sew up your broken heart
Ask directions from a genie in a bottle of jim beam
And she lies to you
That's when you learn the truth

Chorus

If you're goin' through hell keep on going
Don't slow down if you're scared don't show it
You might get out before the devil even knows you're there

I've been deep down in that darkness
I've been down to my last match
Felt a hundred different deamons breathin' fire down my back
And I knew that if I stumbled I'd fall right into the trap
That they were layin'

But the good news is there's angels everywhere out on the street
Holdin' out a hand to pull you back up on your feet
The one's that you've been draggin' for so long
You're on your knees might as well be prayin'
Guess what I'm sayin'

Chorus

If you're goin' through hell keep on going
Don't slow down if you're scared don't show it
You might get out before the devil even knows you're there
When you're goin' through heaven keep on movin'
Face that fire walk right through it
You might get out before the devil even knows you're there

If you're goin' through hell keep on going
Don't slow down if you're scared don't show it
You might get out before the devil even knows you're there
When you're goin' through heaven keep on movin'
Face that fire walk right through it
You might get out before the devil even knows you're there
You might get out before the devil even knows you're there

Overall: Who better to relate than to anyone who has had a hard life.

Airwave: Wolfmother play the 'Joker and the Thief'

Wolfmother coming off the success of its song, "Woman" return with its latest single, "Joker and the Thief" from its self-titled album Wolfmother (Modular/Interscope Records) and judging from the song, unfortunately the song doesn't click as much as the song, "Mother" but not all its bad.

There is a rock flavor to the song but Wolfmother's Myles Heskett, Chris Ross and Andrew Stockdale, struggles to make the song work, and if they had better material for the song or just a better sound to it, it would have worked.

Judge for yourself:

I said the joker is a wanted man,
He makes his way all across the land,
See him sifting through the sand,

So I'll tell you all the story,
About the joker and the thief of the night,

Always laughing in the midst of power,
Always living in the final hour,
There is always sweet in the sour,

We are not goin' home,

Can you see the joker flying over,
As she's standing in the field of clover,
Watching out everyday,
I wonder what would happen is he took her away,

What you see well you might not know,
You get the feelin' comin' after the glow,
The vagabond is moving slow,

So I'll tell you all the story,
'bout the joker and the thief of the night,

All the people that he see in the night,
Hold their dreams up to the light,
The ild beast is searching for sight,

We are not goin' home,

Can you see the joker flying over,
As she's standing in the field of clover,
Watching out everyday,
I wonder what would happen is he took her away,

Airwave: Billy Ray Cyrus proclaims 'I Wanna Be Your Joe'

Billy Ray Cyrus, the man that created the "Achy Breaky Heart" phemonem back in the early 1990s returns with a Christian based album I Wanna Be Your Joe (New Doors Records).

Following quickly on the heels of Billy Ray's disappointing last release, Time Flies (Madacy Records),comes this Christian album, and a far more pleasing prospect it is, too.

For starters, its sacred theme gives the project a focus and direction its predecessor lacked and, with one exception, Cyrus has eschewed the usual practice of walking through familiar religious works, choosing instead to cut some fine new songs from contemporary writers, with a state of the art Nashville production provided by Billy Joe Walker Jr.

Some tracks have the chameleon-like possibility of being either secular or sacred but, for the most part, the songs are outwardly Christian and Cyrus sings them with a
passion that was missing from his last set.

Hard to pick highlights because the quality of the songs and Billy Ray's performance is generally high throughout, but I especially enjoyed the jangly guitar-led opener, "Face Of God," Kelly Shiver's gentle yet powerful statement of faith, "I Need You Now," and Cyrus's own story of what awaits us when we cross over to The Other Side.

The one exception to the new material is a ripping, blues workout of "Amazing Grace." Like me, you may dread hearing yet one more version of this truly great, but oh so terribly over used hymn, but the cut has a terrific groove and reminds me a little of the gospel side of Elvis Presley. Great rolling, pounding piano ensemble playing, it rounds out the album with real style. Irresistible.

Key Track: "The Man (A Tribute to Dale Earnhardt)" because it is what "American Pie" was for Buddy Holly.

No matter how you feel about the pride of Flatwoods, Kentucky, you've got to give him credit for sheer grit. An embarrassment to Nashville after his Chippendalesish (and hugely popular) line-dancing anthem "Achy Breaky Heart" (1992), the mullet-wearing Billy Ray Cyrus went on to make credible music (1993's mostly ignored It Won't Be the Last) before segueing into acting (Doc, Hannah Montana).

Yet on Wanna Be Your Joe, an album he largely wrote or co-wrote, Cyrus doesn't do himself many favors. The quality of writing never reaches the upper tiers, and several of the songs come across as rough demos instead of fully produced cuts.

His slim baritone, once gravelly and testosterone-pumped, is dry as a stump, and the hunger and passion that drove his earlier recordings also seems to slumber, whether he's paying tribute to his heroes (Dale Earnhardt, Ronnie Van Zant) or pondering lost loves.

Cyrus shows his sense of humor in referencing his former hairstyle ("I Want My Mullet Back," a rootsy rock excursion), and hits all the working-class touchstones (the loving husband/father of the promising title cut, the blue-collar protest of exorbitant fuel costs of "A Pain in the Gas").

But the album never really catches fire until he brings on the guests: George Jones and Loretta Lynn for the down-home "Country Music Has the Blues" and daughter Miley for "Stand." Just as in the plots of his TV series, on Wanna Be Your Joe, friends and family save the day. --Alanna Nash

Everyone knows the name of the colossal single from Billy Ray Cyrus’ record-breaking 1992 album "Some Gave All" – the infamous "Achy Breaky Heart" (which also inspired a line dance craze). And since then, Billy Ray has enjoyed great success as not only as a country music star but as a successful songwriter and actor.

In Billy's two decades long career he has achieved: • 3 #1 singles and 6 Top 10 singles in addition to the platinum and gold albums • 2 AMA awards, 1 CMA award • 6 TNN/Music City News awards • 2 MovieGuide Awards (for "Doc") • He STILL holds the record for 17 weeks at #1 on Billboard’s Hot 100 Chart for "Some Gave All" (the longest time this was held by a debut artist). • Has been recognized by the Kennedy Center Honors • Received the Bob Hope Congressional Medal of Honor Society Entertainer’s Award • Country Radio Broadcaster’s Artist Humanitarian Award • Been inducted into the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Hall of Fame

As an artist, Billy Ray Cyrus continues to create music that is close to his heart… music that rocks, can touch one’s emotions, songs that are reverent and some even satirical, and all styles are evident on his CD debut release on New Door Records.

Airwave: Adkins does the 'Honky Tonk'; Swift sings to 'Tim McGraw'

Country star Trace Adkins has revived the dance of the Honky Tonk with the single, "Honky Tonk Badonkadonk" from his CD, Dangerous Man (Captial Reocords) and the result is a song that is catchy and you can dance to it.

With Adkins as the singer I don't know whoelse could have done, but boy is it good and fans of Adkins would be dance the night away.

As the lyrics stand:

Turn it up some
Alright boys, this is her favorite song
You know that right
So, if we play it good and loud
She might get up and dance again
Ooh, she put her beer down
Here she comes
Here she comes
Left left left right left
Whoo

Husslers shootin' eightball
Throwin' darts at the wall
Feelin' damn near 10 ft. tall
Here she comes, Lord help us all
Ol' T.W.'s girlfriend done slapped him outta his chair
Poor ole boy, it ain't his fault
It's so hard not to stare
At that honky tonk badonkadonk
Keepin' perfect rhythm
Make ya wanna swing along
Got it goin' on
Like Donkey Kong
And whoo-wee
Shut my mouth, slap your grandma
There outta be a law
Get the Sheriff on the phone
Lord have mercy, how's she even get them britches on
That honky tonk badonkadonk
(Aww son)

Now Honey, you can't blame her
For what her mama gave her
You ain't gotta hate her
For workin' that money-maker
Band shuts down at two
But we're hangin' out till three
We hate to see her go
But love to watch her leave
With that honky tonk badonkadonk
Keepin' perfect rhythm
Make ya wanna swing along
Got it goin' on
Like Donkey Kong
And whoo-wee
Shut my mouth, slap your grandma
There outta be a law
Get the Sheriff on the phone
Lord have mercy, how's she even get them britches on
With that honky tonk badonkadonk
(Ooh, that's what I'm talkin' bout right there, honey)

We don't care bout the drinkin'
Barely listen to the band
Our hands, they start a shakin'
When she gets the urge to dance
Drivin' everybody crazy
You think you fell in love
Boys, you better keep your distance
You can look but you can't touch
That honkey tonk badonkadonk
Keepin' perfect rhythm
Make ya wanna swing along
Got it goin' on
Like Donkey Kong
And whoo-wee
Shut my mouth, slap your grandma
There outta be a law
Get the Sheriff on the phone
Lord have mercy, how's she even get them britches on
That honky tonk badonkadonk

That honky tonk badonkadonk
Yeah, that honky tonk badonkadonk

(That's it, right there boys, that's why we do what we do
It ain't for the money, it ain't for the glory, it ain't for the free whiskey
It's for the badonkadonk)

Overall: Dance the badonkadonk.

Country artist Taylor Swift new single, "Tim McGraw" from her major-label debut CD Tim McGraw (Big Machine Records) is yes, a tribute to the country man himself but she turns it into her own song and it's good as it gets.

You said the way my blue eyes shined,
Put those Georgia stars to shame that night
I said: "That's a lie"
Just a boy in a Chevy truck,
That had a tendency of gettin' stuck,
On backroads at night
An' I was right there beside him all summer long
An' then the time we woke up to find that summer'd gone

But when you think: Tim McGraw,
I hope you think my favorite song
The one we danced to all night long:
The moon like a spotlight on the lake
When you think happiness,
I hope you think: "That little black dress"
Think of my head on your chest,
An' my old faded blue jeans
When you think Tim McGraw,
I hope you think of me

September saw a month of tears,
An' thankin' God that you weren't here,
To see me like that
But in a box beneath my bed,
Is a letter that you never read,
From three summers back
It's hard not to find it all a little bitter sweet,
An' lookin' back on all of that, it's nice to believe:

When you think: Tim McGraw,
I hope you think my favorite song
The one we danced to all night long:
The moon like a spotlight on the lake
When you think happiness,
I hope you think: "That little black dress"
Think of my head on your chest,
An' my old faded blue jeans
When you think Tim McGraw,
I hope you think of me

And I'm back for the first time since then:
I'm standin' on your street,
An' there's a letter left on your doorstep,
An' the first thing that you'll read:

Is: "When you think: Tim McGraw,
"I hope you think my favorite song"
Some day you'll turn your radio on,
I hope it takes you back to that place
When you think happiness,
I hope you think: "That little black dress"
Think of my head on your chest,
An' my old faded blue jeans
When you think Tim McGraw,
I hope you think of me
Oh, think of me,
Mmmm

You said the way my blue eyes shined,
Put those Georgia stars to shame that night
I said: "That's a lie"

Overall: Look out Faith Hill...just kidding she does the song right.

Airwave: Underwood has 'Some Heart'

"American Idol" Season 4 winner Carrie Underwood's best song off her album Some Hearts (Arista Records) is the title track because it is more of a dance ballad than any of her others singles of the album.

Judging by the lyrics you will hear why:

I've never been the kind that you'd call lucky
Always stumbling' around in circles
But I must have stumbled into something
Look at me
Am I really alone with you
I wake up feeling like my life's worth living
Can't recall when I last felt that way
Guess it must be all this love you're giving
Never knew never knew it could be like this
But I guess

Some hearts
They just get all the right breaks
Some hearts have the stars on their side
Some hearts,
They just have it so easy
Some hearts just get lucky sometimes
Some hearts just get lucky, lucky sometimes

Now who'd have thought someone like you could love me
You're the last thing my heart expected
Who'd have thought I'd ever find somebody
Someone who someone who makes me feel like this
Well I guess

Some hearts
They just get all the right breaks
Some hearts have the stars on their side, yes
Some hearts,
They just have it so easy
Some hearts just get lucky sometimes
Some hearts just get lucky sometimes
Ohhhhhh

Even hearts like mine
Get lucky, lucky sometimes

Even hearts like mine
Ohhhhhhhh

Some hearts,
They just get all the right breaks
Some hearts have the stars on their side
Some hearts,
They just have it so easy
Some hearts just get lucky sometimes

Some hearts
They just get all the right breaks
Some hearts have the stars on their side, yes
Some hearts,
They just have it so easy
Some hearts just get lucky sometimes
Some hearts just get lucky sometimes

Listen to it.

Airwave: Alan Jackson serenades audience with a 'Rose'

Country singer Alan Jackson's new single, "Like Red on a Rose" from the album Like Red on a Rose (Arista Records) to be released on September 26 is a man who knows how to move a crowd.

The single which is the first of what is his first album in two years Jackson spills his guts thoughout and you can hear in the sound of his voice, and to be honest it doesn't fail him.

Those who are fans of Jackson will see the emotion carried by him, and just the sound of his vocals.

1st Verse:
Like red on a rose
When your lips first smiled at me
I was captured instantly
To each his own

2nd Verse:
Like blue in a sky
The gaze of your willin' eyes
Touched somethin' deep inside
And the truth be known

Chorus:
That I love you
Like all little children love pennies
And I love you 'cause I know
That I can't do anything wrong
You're where I belong
Like red on a rose

Tag Chorus:
And I love you
Like all little children love pennies
And I love you like good times
Of which I have known many
And I love you 'cause I know
You give me a heart of my own
You make my blood flow
Like red on a rose

Overall: You turn soft...so I hope you're in love.

One of the songs that I think is worth listening to is Amy Grant's "Carry You":

Lay down your burdens
And I will carry you
I will carry you my child

Cause I can walk on water
Calm a restless sea
I've done a thousand things, you've never done
I'm here watching
While you struggle on your own
Call my name, I'll come

Lay down your burdens
And I will carry you
I will carry you my child

I give vision to the blind
I can raise the dead
I've seen a darker side of hell
And I've returned

I've seen these sleepless nights
I've watched every tear you cry
I know some lessons hurt to learn

Lay done your burdens
I will carry you
I will carry you, my child

In addition to Randy Travis' "Three Wooden Crosses" because with it being the first track on the album, you will know what to expect throughout the album and Travis blends in emotion:

A Farmer And A Teacher, A Hooker And A Preacher
Ridin' On A Midnight Bus, Bound For Mexico
One Was Headed For Vacation, One For Higher Education
And Two Of Them Were Searchin' For Lost Souls
That Driver Never Ever Saw The Stop Sign
And Eighteen Wheelers Can't Stop On A Dime

Chorus:

There Are, Three Wooden Crosses On The Right Side Of The Highway
Why There's Not Four Of Them, Heaven Only Knows
I Guess Its, Not What You Take, When You Leave This World Behind You
Its What You Leave Behind You When You Go

That Farmer Left A Harvest, A Home And Eighty Acres
The Faith And Love For Growin' Things, In His Young Son's Heart
And That Teacher Left Her Wisdom, In The Minds Of Lots Of Children
And Did Her Best, To Give Them All A Better Start
And That Preacher Whispered Can't You See The Promised Land
As He Laid His Blood Stained Bible In That Hooker's Hand

Chorus:

There Are, Three Wooden Crosses On The Right Side Of The Highway
Why There's Not Four Of Them, Heaven Only Knows
I Guess It's, Not What You Take, When You Leave This World Behind You
It's What You Leave Behind You When You Go

That's A Story That Our Preacher Told Last Sunday
As He Held That Blood Stained Bible Up, For All Of Us To See
He Said, "Bless The Farmer, And The Teacher, And The Preacher
Who Gave This Bible To My Mama, Who Read It To Me"

Chorus:

There Are, Three Wooden Crosses On The Right Side Of The Highway
Why There's Not Four Of Them, Now I Guess We Know
It's Not What You Take, When You Leave This World Behind You
It's What You Leave Behind You When You Go

There Are, Three Wooden Crosses On The Right Side Of The Highway

Overall: Great album and the artists' show their strengths.

Happy Birthday: Madonna turns 48

Although her birthday is not until next week, I thought I just say it now instead of later: Happy Birthday to "Queen" Madonna as she celebrates 48-years on the planet Earth. Yes, our Queen of Pop celebrates with pride as when she first said, "I will not be happy until I am as famous as God." Well, true to that statement until now, Madonna has become more famous just like God, and who knows God and Madonna two famous figures?

Born in Bay City, Michigan Madonna Louise Veronica Ciccone began to want attention after the loss of her mother (also named Madonna) at the age of five. Her father Tony Ciccone was left to raise eight children but Madonna was determined to stand out. IF you all know the story you know that she came to New York with what was only $35 in her pocket and ambition and her father was not happy about it...but she became famous in 1983 and the rest you know is history.

Look at her now. She has come a long way baby...and I hope that the next 23 years Madonna will continue to amaze. Like Seymour Stein (Madonna's former Sire Records president) said, "They say that someone like Madonna comes once in a lifetime," he concluded, "but that's not true people like Madonna come once in life."

Music News: In Madonna We Trust in ltaly

Soon after the Russian Church condemned pop queen Madonna’s crucifixion performance in Rome, the 'Material Girl' is surrounded with yet another controversy.
She has attracted criticism from the Catholics over her H&M clothing ad draped over the scaffolding of Milan's landmark Duomo.

An advertisement from Madonna's latest modelling job, as the face of the autumn/winter range of Swedish fashion firm H&M, appears on the side of the world's largest gothic cathedral.

But despite increasing protests over the H&M banner, the revenue from which is helping bankroll restoration of the cathedral, the Duomo's Monsignor Luigi Manganini said the ad would stay up for the duration of H&M's contract.

'It's just an ad, certainly not a canonization. When it was accepted, the poster seemed all correct and appropriate for its place, and it still is', E!online quoted Manganini, as telling Italy's Ansa news agency.

The head of culture for Milan's city council also agreed, claiming that the complaints, primarily by Catholic parents' association and Milan's Advertising Progress Foundation, are creating fuss over nothing.

'The other parts of the building are full of devils and demons,' Vittorio Sgarbi told the city's Corriere della Sera newspaper. 'So an infernal Madonna shouldn't hurt us too badly', he said.

Instead, protestors have found fault with the ad's placement, gracing the outside of the cathedral less than a week after the Confessions on a Dancefloor singer went ahead with plans to stage her cross-writhing routine at a concert at Rome's Olympic Stadium, just a mile away from Vatican City.

Timing is apparently everything.

Last Sunday, the controversy-courting singer pulled off a Jesus-channeling performance on stage, suspending herself on a 20-foot mirrored cross and donning a crown of fake thorns while singing the '80s ballad "Live to Tell."
Madonna, meanwhile, has moved on from her Roman protests and is back on the road, already courting the wrath of another religious body, the Russian Orthodox Church.

Church officials have already jumped on the boycott bandwagon, urging Christians to sit out her concert when she stops in Moscow Sept. 11.

In addition, Madonna was recently spotted wearing a t-shirt that read, In Madonna We Trust while out with husband Guy Ritchie.

Airwave: Moot Davis and The Mavericks turn to 'Gold'

Moot’s self-titled debut release Moot Davis (Litte Dog Records) clearly demonstrates his talent for writing and performing songs with the passion, soul and honesty of such legendary honky-tonk balladeers as Hank Williams, Sr. and Webb Pierce. While true to the idiom, Moot’s music is not a “throwback” – rather it is an evolution of an art form that has been sadly missed. This is honky-tonk for the new millennium.

In many ways, Moot’s music defies categorization – which is not surprising, given his background. Born and raised in New Jersey, Moot grew up listening to the current popular music he heard on the streets of his hometown, Trenton. Summers spent visiting his grandparents in West Virginia, however, exposed him to a wide array of classic country artists like Johnny Cash, George Jones, and Hank, Sr. The combination of his northern upbringing and the deep influences of his family’s southern heritage helped Moot develop a unique sound which can only be defined as “honky-tonk” – “roots” tunes with a distinct edge and attitude.

At an early age, Moot displayed an interest in both music and acting. After high school, he did stints as a laborer and pool builder while focusing his efforts on his musical career, eventually moving to New York City. Moot was soon heard by Fred Boenig who ran WDVR-FM, a local radio station out of Sergeantsville, NJ. There, Moot was featured on a live weekly hillbilly radio show called "Heartlands Hayride.” Boenig also helped Moot record his first real demo.

In 2001 Moot moved to Nashville to pursue his career. There, he continued honing his own brand of contemporary roots music and started sending out demos. Eventually, one of his recordings landed in the lap of Little Dog Records. One listen and everyone at the label was hooked. Exactly one year after moving to Nashville, Moot found himself on a plane to Los Angeles to make a record with multi-platinum, Grammy Award-winning producer Pete Anderson.

The result is a tight ten-song album consisting entirely of Davis-penned tunes. Under the direction of Anderson, the music jumps out of the speakers, presenting Moot’s classic honky-tonk fare with an in-your-face honesty that let’s the listener know this is the real thing. His record has landed on a variety of critics’ Top Ten list and he was recently named Honky-Tonk Artist of the Year by “True West” magazine. Moot’s music was also chosen to appear in the Oscar award winning film “Crash,” starring Sandra Bullock, Ludacris, Brendan Fraser, Don Cheadle, and Matt Dillon.

In support of the record, Moot has been appearing on the road with his band The Cool Deal, doing nearly 200 dates a year – a performance schedule that has been dubbed, “The Tour That Never Ends.” Moot has received continuing critical acclaim for his live shows, which feature Pete Anderson as band leader/guitarist.

And Davis shows no signs of slowing down. He has begun work on his follow-up album while maintaining a cross-country tour schedule that would give Greyhound a run for their money. Whether your tastes run toward country, blues, honky-tonk or even live jam band mania, Moot Davis offers an alternative to bland music-by-the-numbers. If you can listen to Moot Davis and not move your feet, check your pulse – you may be dead.

Moot Davis

Country group The Mavericks re-release its remastered album Gold (Mca Nashville Records) and Raul Malo and carries the load of all the 41 tracks pf music and the one track to keep in mind is the single, "Fool #1":

they just don't know how lost I feel without you
my teardrops never see the light of day
I laugh and joke each time they talk about you
but if they heard my heart they'd hear it say

excuse me, I think I've got a heartache
there's an aching deep inside
and it just won't be denied
excuse me, I think I've got a heartache
and I better say goodbye before I cry

I guess it's pride that makes me hide my sorrow
I live a lie in all I do and say
my lips may lie and paint a bright tomorrow
but if I told the truth I'd have to say

excuse me, I think I've got a heartache
there's an aching deep inside
and it just won't be denied

excuse me, I think I've got a heartache
and I better say goodbye before I cry
and I better say goodbye before I cry

In additon to "Blue Moon" turned in a country song that was written by Bruce Springsteen:

I got a dollar in my pocket
there ain't a cloud up above
I got a picture in my locket
that says, baby I love you

well if you didn't look then boys
the fellas don't go lookin' now
well here she comes a-walkin'
all that heaven will allow
say hey there mister bouncer
now all I wanna do is dance

but I swear I left my wallet
back home in my working pants
c'mon Slim, slip me in man
I'll make it up to you somehow
I can't be late, I got a date
with all that heaven will allow

rain and storm and dark skies
well now they don't mean a thing
if you got a girl that loves you
and who wants to wear your ring
so c'mon mister trouble

we'll make it through you somehow
we'll fill this house with all the love
all that heaven will allow
rain and storm and dark skies
well now they don't mean a thing
if you got a girl that loves you
and who wants to wear your ring

so c'mon mister trouble
we'll make it through you somehow
we'll fill this house with all the love
all that heaven will allow
now some may die young man
young and gloriously

get it straight now mister
hey buddy, that ain't me
'cause I got something on my mind, yeah
that sets me straight and walkin' proud
and I want all the time
all that heaven will allow
and I want all the time
all that heaven will allow

The group which is very diverse in its music and the album is by far one of their best and without Malo who knows where they would be without him.

Overall: the album are worth the words.

Airwave: Montgomery Gentry 'Change' in new single

With its new single, "Some People Change" from the group's yet-to-be-titled CD Montgomery Gentry return and at first listen it is a song that will rock your ear.

Both Eddie Montgomery and Troy Gentry are clearly the best when it comes to singing and this song just proves it, so if you love them you will love this single, and it make country music sound good.

The lyrics don't lie:

1st Verse
His old man was a rebel yeller
Bad boy to the bone
He'd say, 'Can't trust that other feller'
He'd judge 'em by the tone of their skin

2nd Verse
He was raised to think like his Dad
Narrow mind full 'a hate
On the road to nowhere fast
'Til the grace of God got in the way

Pre Chorus
Then he saw the light and hit his knees
And cried and said a prayer
Rose up a brand new man
Left the old one right there

Chorus
(Some people change)
Here's to the strong
Thanks to the brave
Don't give up hope
some people change
Against all odds
Against the grain
Love finds a way
Some people change (hey)
(Some people change)

3rd Verse
She was born with her mother's habit
You could say it's in her blood
She hates that she's gotta have it
As she fill her glass up

Pre Chorus
She'd love to kill that bottle
But all she can think about
Is a better life, a second chance
And everyone she's letting down
She throws that bottle down
(Repeat Chorus)

Bridge
Thank God for those who make it
Let them be the light
Let them be the light

(Repeat Chorus)

Overall: get ready to rock.

Happy Birthday: Six-year old Rocco Ritchie

This coming weekend Aug. 11, 2006 marks the birthday of one little guy in Madonna's life and no I am not talking about Guy but her son Rocco who is turning 6-years old. Yes, Madonna's other guy in her life is getting older and imagine that it was only as if were yesterday that Madonna and Guy christened their son in Scotland just before their pending wedding the next day in December of 2000. (Actually Madonna and Guy got married on Dec. 22, the day of my stepfather's birthday, who would have thought). But anyway, happy birthday to Rocco Ritchie.

Editorial: Stone's 'World Trade Center' and OK Go at it 'Again'

OK Go, the band with a mini-sensation the web and here is the group with the song, "Here We Go Again." The idea came from one who goes the gym...nice! Enjoy.

Hollywood director Oliver Stone's "World Trade Center" (Paramount Pictures) is being released on Wednesday and I thought I would share the opinion of what is the second movie based on the horrific events of Sept. 11, 2001.

However, the director come off as notorious for making controverial films and such, I hope he realizing the senstivity of those who lost their lives. I'm sure he does, but in all honesty I hope that those who were affected know that too. I am not a big fan of film based on actual events and those that portain to Sept. 11 much less.

Just as the film before it, "United 93" (Universal Pictures) which involved the account of the passengers who fought back against four of the terrorists from hitting the Pentagon Stone I would hope, understand the impact of such a film like these.

As for seeing the film I leave that to you, the audience.

Airwave: Rascal Flatts 'Gang' Up

Country trio Rascal Flatts show why they are today's most beloved group and with the title track, "Me and My Gang" from its album Me and My Gang (Lyric Street Records) and for Gary LeVox, Joe Don Rooney and Jay DeMarcus as you hear the lyrics to the song you know why the band is good as it gets.

Currently on tour with up-and-coming duo The Wreckers (Michelle Branch and Jessica Harp) the exposure Rascal Flatts is getting from its "Me and My Gang" tour only does one thing: solidify them as a band who know what works.

Way on down to southern Alabama
With the guitars jammin’
That’s where we’re headed
Straight up to Butte, Montana
Singin’ “Lord, I Was Born a Ramblin’ Man”
California to Oregon, even New York City
Got one or two hillbillies
Ready to hit the road

Chorus
It’s a brothers and a sisters kind of thang
Raise up your hands if you all wanna hang
With me and my gang
We live to ride, we ride to live
Me and my gang, jump on that train
Grab hold of them reigns
We’re gonna rock this thang, cock this thang
Me and my gang, yeah - me and my gang

We got hippies, gypsies, freaks and geeks
High class women in Daisy Duke denim
Bangin on gongs and singing our songs
Dude named Elrock jammin’ on an iPod
Beer and bonfires
Wide open throttle
Coors in a bottle
It’s all for one and one for all, ya’ll

Yeah – Woo!
Na, Na, Na, Na, Na, Na, Na, Na, Na, Na, Na
Na, Na, Na, Na, Na, Na
Na, Na, Na, Na, Na, Na, Na, Na, Na, Na, Na

Na, Na, Na, Na, Na, Na, Na, Na, Na, Na, Na
Na, Na, Na, Na, Na, Na, Na, Na, Na, Na, Na
Na, Na, Na, Na, Na, Na, Na, Na, Na, Na, Na
Na, Na, Na, Na, Na, Na, Na, Na, Na, Na, Na

Yeah – With me and my gang
Jump on that train – whoa!
Grab hold of them reigns, baby!

This song help the group's staying power.

Airwave Music News: Madonna helps Africa

Source: AOL Music News Blog

Madonna is putting her money where her mouth is. The pop superstar tells Time magazine that she is providing for the orphans of Malawi, Africa, where the population has been devastated by AIDS, malaria and drought.

Ground is set to be broken on an orphan care center that will feed and educate 1,000 children a day. And Madge, who will visit the area for the first time in October, is committing $1 million to a documentary on the plight of the orphans.

Now that she's a mother herself, she says, she feels a responsibility toward the children of the world. "I suppose I was looking for a big, big project I could sink my teeth into," she says. She credits her Kabbalah studies with her newfound philanthropy: "One of the main precepts of Kabbalah is that we're put on this earth to help people," she says. "And your job is to figure out how you can help."

Month: August Date: 16 Year: 1958. In honor of Madonna's birthday and country music this month, here is the video that I think is hands down the best video choreographed to date. And its cowboy inspired! The song, "Don't Tell Me" off the album Music (Maverick/Warner Bros. Records) was originally written by Madonna's brother-in-law Joe Henry. He also released the song, but called it "Stop" from the album Scar (Mammoth Records). Enjoy.

Airwave: "Nashville Star's" Young 'Drinkin'' in the fame

Season 4 "Nashville Star" winner Chris Young's first single and self-written song, "Drinkin' Me Lonely Tonight" is the first of what may be a long-standing career for this newcomer from Murfreesboro, Tenn.

The single which Young performed during this season's reality show, "Nashville Star" not only won him a recording contract with RCA records but floored the judges as well with this restrained, emotion-rich slice of classic country craftsmanship. They could've given him the crown that night.

The lyrics to "Drinkin' Me Lonely are those that are haunting yet, Young establishes himself as a superstar of the future:

I'm pushing you away each time I pull up that ole barstool,
And drownin' you in every drop I drink.
I'm telling you to go to hell but I'm talking to myself
'Cuz you're not around to hear what I think.
I'm trying to teach my heart to hate you,
But it ain't workin' right

Now the truth is I'm only drinkin' me lonely tonight.
Lord, it's more than just thirsty that I'm feeling inside
'Cuz these tears I've been crying have left me bone dry,
I wish the bartender had a cure I could buy,
But the truth is I'm only, drinkin' me lonely tonight.

He said I'd have to choose between your love and this old bar room,
And I just laughed, but I guess you knew best,
Who cares whose right or wrong tonight, my better half is gone
And this whisky's laying claim to all that's left.
So I'll just order up another and pretend I'm all right,

When the truth is I'm only drinkin' me lonely tonight.
And Lord, it's more than just thirsty that I'm feeling inside
'Cuz these tears I've been crying have left me bone dry,
And I wish the bartender had a cure I could buy,
But the truth is I'm only drinkin' me lonely tonight.

As he mentioned after his win on "Nashville Star" and signing with RCA Records:

"When I heard that, I got interested," he says. "RCA has always been the label I wanted to be on. It's where my heroes recorded, guys like Keith Whitley, John Anderson, Ronnie Milsap and Alan Jackson. I knew they were the best of the best."

The friend paid for Young's ticket to audition in Houston. The rest is history, as Young stood head and shoulders above the competition at every level. The fans and judges at every step recognized him as the star he is.

"I've always felt this was my destiny," says the singer. "But I also realized early on that hard work is as important as talent. I love to work just as much as I love music. So I'm having the time of my life right now.

"Still, I'm waiting for that day when I hear my song being played on the radio next to George Strait and Brooks & Dunn. That's when I'll celebrate. At that point, I'll know my work is just beginning, but I'll also know that dreams do come true."

From the first to the last note Young is well on his way to winning the hearts of fans.

Airwave: Cowboy Troy gives it his 'Last'

Call him the Eminem of country music because he is known as the rappin' cowboy of the genre, yes, it is Cowboy Troy and as he continues to release music that is appealing to the ear and his latest, "My Last Yee Haw" featuring Big and Rich from his album Loco Motive (Warner Bros./Wea Records) Troy has created a buzz that he is a superstar.

What drives the song to its appeal the interchanging lyrics between the cowboy and duo as you see and hear below:

[Intro - Larry the Cable Guy]
Test two, test two three, test two niner five.
Hey, Git-R-Done! This is Larry the Cable Guy, by God!
I've never won a Grammy award, but Barbra Streisand
Took her top off one time and won a SAG award!
Ha ha! That's funny, I don't care who you are!
Hey, enjoy this song by Cowboy Troy, a good buddy of mine!
Git-R-Done! By God, Troy, GIT-R-DONE!

[Big & Rich]
YEE HAW!!!!! [chainsaw sounds]

[Tag - Cowboy Troy]
If you don't know, better ask somebody
Get on the floor and grab that hottie
If you don't know, better ask somebody
Get on the floor and grab that hottie
If you don't know, better ask somebody
Get on the floor and grab that hottie
I gotta work tomorrow y'all
But tonight I'm gonna party

[Chorus - Big & Rich]
Like it's my last yee haw! Gonna let it hang out!
Like it's my last yee haw! Gonna scream and shout!
Like it's my last yee haw! Gonna burn down the town!
Like it's my last yee haw!!!!

[Verse 1 - Cowboy Troy]
Better hurry up, don't waste your time
You know what to do when you hear my rhyme
You're bouncin' up and down like a kid on a seesaw
Steady groovin' word to your meemaw
Right now put 'em in the air
wave side-to-side, scream "Aw yeah!"
Gotta work tomorrow y'all
But tonight I'm gonna party

[Repeat Chorus]

[Verse 2 - Cowboy Troy]
Whatch'o name is? Now don't be scared
Get on the dancefloor, girl, ya heard?
Hands on your knees, arch that back
Shake that badonkadonk and make it clap
Aw now, here we go
Get on the dance floor and get low
Sweat drippin' all down your clothes
'Cause where it stops no one knows

[Repeat Chorus]

[Repeat Tag]

[Repeat Chorus]

[Big & Rich]
Like it's my last yee haw!
Like it's my last yee haw!
Like it's my last yee haw!
Like it's my last yee haw!!!!

The funny part is the chainsaw sound 'cause you hear how good it is. As for Cowboy Troy the debut of his CD and other songs is only the beginning of will have him around for a long time, and yes the Eminem of country.

Now and then I confess you cross my mind
Now and then I guess I have a little too much time
I've changed my way of thinking
I've tried hard to separate what came too soon
From what came too late

I don't think about me in terms of you
I don't think about you in terms of us
I don't think about us in terms of love
I don't think about then in terms of now
I found a way to start again somehow
I don't think about what we thought it was
Oh, in terms of love
Oh, in terms of love
(A woman in love)

I'm countin' on heaven to understand
I didn't mean to go and mess up all the plans
Sometimes you know where you should go
Before you know the way
I'll bother with tomorrow
Once I made it through today

I don't think about me in terms of you
I don't think about you in terms of us
I don't think about us in terms of love
I don't think about then in terms of now
I found a way to start again somehow
I don't think about what we thought it was
Oh, in terms of love
Mmmm, hummm, yeah
(Mmmm, Hummmm!!)

I don't think about black in terms of grey
Or revelations in the light of day
I don't think about cold in terms of ice
Or second chances happenin' twice

I don't think about me in terms of you
I don't think about you in terms of us
I don't think about us in terms of love
I don't think about then in terms of now
I found a way to start again somehow
I don't think about what we thought it was
Oh, in terms of love

(I don't think about me in terms of you)
(I don't think about you in terms of us)
In terms of love

(I don't think about then in terms of now)
(I found a way to start again somehow)
Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah
I don't think about us in terms of love

This song displays, Kassidy Osborn and her sisters, Kelsi and Kristyn at their best. Equally impressive is the songwriting ability displayed go along and help this song succeed in all levels.

Editorial: Lance Bass is 'Out'

With former N'Sync member Lance Bass' recently revelation that he is gay it should be noted that Bass did an Ellen DeGeneres and a Star Jones-Reynolds turn in the public. First he said, "Yep, I'm Gay" as when DeGeneres said it herself on the cover of Time Magazine in 1997 and like Jones-Reynolds he told "People" magazine.

For those who were fans of N'Sync in the mid-90s it might have come as a shock because Bass said that he didn't want to hurt the popularity of the group at the height of its success which is true but have you seen his boyfriend? CUTE!

Sorry the high school chick came out...

Yes, former reality star Reichen Lehmkuhl ("Amazing Race" winner) is his boyfriend but he and Lance are a happy couple and now that Bass follows in the footsteps of Rosie O'Donnell and DeGeneres and that other reality star Richard Hatch the question is now what?

Before all the attention was on Brad and Angelina and Kate and Tom but it seems that at least Justin Timberlake has turned his back on Bass saying that he hopes and cares for him to be happy and to that I say...Amen.

Besides, haven't you ever been curious to see him in women's clothes or less... a pink shirt?

Airwave: Johnny Cash walks the 'Highway'

Before his death on Sept. 12, 2003 Johnny Cash was working on the album American V: A Hundred Highways (Lost Highway Records) which proved to he is last and the result is a man who will have fans shed a tear because of his honest, his work, and most importantly his music.

With the likes of Kurt Cobain, Tupac Shakur, Notorious B.I.G., before him Cash expressed what he feels inside with more so the death of his beloved wife June Carter Cash in which she was his staple that held him together.

However, the contrast will come between the songs, "God's Gonna Cut You Down":

You can run on for a long time
Run on for a long time
Run on for a long time
Sooner or later God'll cut you down
Sooner or later God'll cut you down

Go tell that long tongue liar
Go and tell that midnight rider
Tell the rambler, the gambler, the back biter
Tell 'em that God's gonna cut 'em down
Tell 'em that God's gonna cut 'em down

Well my goodness gracious let me tell you the news
My head's been wet with the midnight dew
I've been down on bended knee talkin' to the man from Galilee
He spoke to me in the voice so sweet
I thought I heard the shuffle of the angel's feet
He called my name and my heart stood still
When he said, "John go do My will!"

Go tell that long tongue liar
Go and tell that midnight rider
Tell the rambler, the gambler, the back biter
Tell 'em that God's gonna cut 'em down
Tell 'em that God's gonna cut 'em down

You can run on for a long time
Run on for a long time
Run on for a long time
Sooner or later God'll cut you down
Sooner or later God'll cut you down

Well you may throw your rock and hide your hand
Workin' in the dark against your fellow man
But as sure as God made black and white
What's down in the dark will be brought to the light

You can run on for a long time
Run on for a long time
Run on for a long time
Sooner or later God'll cut you down
Sooner or later God'll cut you down

Go tell that long tongue liar
Go and tell that midnight rider
Tell the rambler, the gambler, the back biter
Tell 'em that God's gonna cut you down
Tell 'em that God's gonna cut you down
Tell 'em that God's gonna cut you down

(His voice toward the end was beginning to weaken).

And "Like The 309" (the last song Johnny wrote & recorded) Lyrics
Album : American V: A Hundred Highways
Artist : Johnny Cash

It should be a while before I see Dr. Death
So it would sure be nice if I could get my breath
Well I'm not the crying nor the whining kind
'Till I hear the whistle of the 309

Of the 309, of the 309
Put me in my box on the 309

Take me to the depot, put me to bed
Blow an electric fan on my gnarly old head
Everybody take a look, see I'm doing fine
Then load my box on the 309

On the 309, on the 309
Put me in my box on the 309

Hey sweet baby, kiss me hard
Draw my bath water, sweep my yard
Give a drink of my wine to my Jersey cow
I wouldn't give a hootin' hell for my journey now

On the 309, on the 309

I hear the sound of a railroad train
The whistle blows and I'm gone again
It will take me higher than a Georgia pine
Stand back children, it's a 309

It's a 309, it's a 309
Put me in my box on the 309

A chicken in the pot and turkey in the corn
Ain't felt this good since jubilee morn
Talk about luck, well I got mine
As me comin' down like a 309

Write me a letter, sing me a song
Tell me all about it, what I did wrong
Meanwhile I will be doing fine
Then load my box on the 309

On the 309, on the 309
Goin' to get out of here on the 309

At the end, you can hear him taking in his last breath, but yes get ready to shed those numerous tears and in the end the Man in Black never sounded so real.
